How Kristin Doubled Her Art Print Sales In One Year. Episode 335
Sep 01, 2026
She Thought Six-Figure Art Sales Were a Fantasy. Here's What Changed Her Mind.
A year ago, one of our Inner Circle members did not think it was possible to replace her dentist income with sales of her art prints. She'd sit down with a piece of paper, run the numbers, and talk herself out of it every single time. "That won't work. I'd have to sell so many prints. How am I ever going to do this?"
Today she can see exactly how she's going to get there.
Her name is Kristin, and she's a painter and print artist based in Atlanta. She's also a retired dentist. When her triplets went off to college and she finally had time to focus on her business, she made a decision that changed everything: she joined Reliable Revenue and the Inner Circle at the same time, and she went all in.
A year later, her sales have doubled. Her orders are up 93%. Her sessions are up 65%. And most of that growth is coming from systems she barely has to touch anymore.
I wanted to sit down with Kristin and walk through exactly how she did it, because I think her story is going to hit home for a lot of you. If you have a goal that feels a little out of reach right now, I promise you it's closer than you think.
The Pivot Nobody Tells You to Make
For most of her career, Kristin sold mostly original paintings. Beautiful work, but here's the problem with originals: every single sale depends on you standing in the studio with a paintbrush in your hand. There's no scale in that. You can only paint so many hours in a day, and your income is capped by your own two hands.
Kristin knew she needed something different. So before she ever joined us, she set a goal, and it was a specific one. Not "grow my business” or "make more money." She wanted to build the part of her business that didn't require her to be standing there painting. That meant shifting her focus toward prints, print on demand, shipped directly to the customer.
"I love painting, but I want to love it. I don't want to do it because I have to, just to pay my advertising bill."
She wasn't trying to stop being an artist, she was trying to stop being a hostage to her own output.
The problem was she didn't have an engine behind that plan. She was tagging products in Instagram posts, sending emails when she remembered to, selling in galleries here and there. It totally depended on what she happened to post and how many people happened to see it. She had the vision. She didn't have the system.
The Part Nobody Warns You About
I hear a version of this constantly. Kristin told me straight out that her computer skills were, in her words, from the 1900s. She only learned to copy and paste about five years ago. She cannot write a formula in a spreadsheet to save her life.
She's also smart enough to have run a successful practice for 25 years. And she was still disappointed in herself for how long e-commerce was taking her to figure out, because she assumed something that was smart should come easily.
It doesn't. Not for anyone.
"It's not for the faint-hearted."
That's not a complaint. That's just the truth. When you see somebody doing well, it didn't happen because they did a few little things right. It happened because they did a lot of things, consistently, over time, even when it was confusing and slow and frustrating.
What Kristin did that made the difference wasn't talent with technology. It was that she gave herself grace to be bad at this for a while, and she kept going anyway.
Sequencing Matters More Than Speed
I get asked this question all the time by members who are staring down a full training library and don't know where to start. Kristin joined Reliable Revenue and the Inner Circle at the same time, which honestly makes her a little bit brave, but she didn't try to do everything at once.
She went all in on Reliable Revenue first. It's a six to eight week course, and she gave herself the whole year to actually implement it, not just finish it. Once she got her email consistent and properly segmented instead of sporadic, her email sales went up immediately. That was step one, fully built, before she moved on.
Then she started at the beginning of the Inner Circle training and worked her way through it in order. When she hit the ads training, it slowed her way down, so she brought in a coach to work through it with her.
"I like to look at all the numbers and put the work in for the marketing and see it come to fruition. That is so rewarding for me."
That quote matters because it tells you something important: the numbers didn't scare her off once she had someone to interpret them alongside her. Having a coach evaluate her ad tests with her wasn't about saving time, although it did that too. It was about not feeling like she was gambling with her own money in the dark.
By the start of this year, she'd finished the full training arc, foundation, email, ads, in that order. And that order is exactly why 2026 has been such a different year for her.
Why Adding Ads Last Actually Worked
This is the part I really want every one of you to hear. Kristin didn't start running ads until she had everything else in place. Her email was converting. Her website was converting. She knew exactly who she was selling to and what she was selling. Only then did she add paid traffic on top.
That sequencing is why the ad spend worked instead of draining her. If you send paid traffic into a business that doesn't have its foundation built yet, you are just paying to expose more people to gaps that aren't fixed. Kristin waited, and when she finally stepped on the gas, she had somewhere for that traffic to actually land and convert.
And somewhere along the way, she posted something in our Facebook group that I loved so much I want to share it word for word: she said she loved that the playbook tracks customer acquisition cost, and that watching how that number moves has made her rethink everything.
"Now I'm obsessed with all of it, and all that it can tell me about my business."
That's a business owner who used to make decisions off gut feeling and vibes now making decisions off her cost to acquire a customer and her customer lifetime value. That shift alone is worth more than almost any tactic I could teach.
The Discipline Behind the Numbers
I also want to talk about something Kristin does that has nothing to do with ads or email, and everything to do with why she's been able to sustain this at all. She separates her creative time from her business time completely. If she's painting, everything else is off. If it's a business day, she gives it the whole day, not scattered pockets here and there.
"I couldn't focus on both and give it both 100 percent."
Before she ever joined the Inner Circle, she was already spending her business days improving her website, photographing her artwork properly, building out email content, and uploading new prints. She didn't fully know how it would all connect yet, but she was quietly laying a foundation she could build on later. That instinct, protecting focused time and building assets before she knew exactly how they'd pay off, is a big part of why she was able to move so fast once she had the training to guide her.
What's Next for Her
Kristin already increased her sales goal once this year after blowing past her first quarter target. Her next big project is building an online course to teach other artists how to create and sell prints, something people ask her about constantly. And her ultimate goal, the one she set the day she joined us, is to fully replace her dentist income by 2027.
Here's what I told her, and I want you to hear it too if you're sitting where she was a year ago, staring at a goal that feels like it belongs to someone else. If I told her to go find five thousand dollars in sales next week, she could do it. It might hurt a little, but she could figure it out. That's not because she's special. It's because she built the assets, in the right order, and gave herself permission to be a beginner along the way.
She's not there yet. But she is so much closer than she thinks. And if you're willing to do what she did, so are you.
If you want the exact roadmap Kristin followed, starting with Reliable Revenue and moving through the full Inner Circle training, that's exactly what we built this for. Come see what's waiting for you on the inside.
